Sure theres alot of bad games released, but the titles that have been chosen for the lists are the major releases that have hype, and are developed by professional studios but not delivered what is promised, or expected. The best games come down to graphics, gameplay, lastability, and value for money. Overall it's been a good year for PC games, some noticable standouts, but at the same time some spectacular failures.
Here are the titles PC Offensive rates the best and worst for 2008:
Worst:
5. Stalker: Clear Sky
There was alot of excitement and anticipation for the Stalker prequel and it turn out to be a let down. Filled with bugs that needed to be patched and patched again. Not a bad game, but unfortunately, this is the game that could...... but didn't.

4. Code of Honour 2: Conspiracy Island
The French Foreign Legion sounds like an exiting life for some, not for shooter fans that payed money for this shooter. Conspiracy Island had a small amount of hype giving developer City Interactive a chance at a half average title but it failed miserably. It would have been a great game if it was released 10 years ago but sadly it wasn't even worth a review.
3. NHL 2009
Another sports game cashing in. It was really hard to notice any improvement from NHL 2008 (if it wasn't for the '9' you would actually swear it was the same game). Move left, move right, shoot. Repeat. Uninstall.

2. Hulk
It seems as though Sega have just released this title to cash in on the franchise. The city was lifeless and the enemies unimaginative.
1. Ironman
Another movie spin off that just didn't please anyone. Avid gamers and even young children get over the title in a matter of minutes. Has anybody seen the second level? I doubt anybody has played it that long. The enemies are lifeless and the levels are boring. The worst part is that it retailed for as much as some top new release games.

Best:
5. Call of Duty: World at War
Could have scored alot higher, but World War 2 games are starting to get tiresome. This time we get to battle the Japanese over Pacific Islands as well as the Russians fighting towards Berlin. Nice Graphics and acting make this a great First Person Shooter.

4. Far Cry 2
African Mercenaries caught up in a civil war sounds dangerous but spells fun for the PC gamer. A huge map means there is plenty to explore. Defiantly worth a look at.

3. Grand Theft Auto IV
GTA IV is great game that let alot of the PC community down with several bugs. Missions are fun and entertaining. Even though PC users had to wait alot longer than anyone else to try this game, the wait was worthwhile with some added extras. The social club was an interesting addition, but unfortunately incorporated itself onto the desktop making itself feel at home. Great acting and gameplay will make this a great stocking filler for Christmas.

2. Crysis Warhead
The most realistic graphics are found in Crysis Warhead. Not as large as the original game, but the bugs have been fixed. The price is cheap compared with other new releases. The second multiplayer disk "Crysis Wars" means this is defiantly worth the hard drive space.

1. Fallout 3
If you haven't seen or heard of this title then you've got some catching up to do. Plenty of action, missions and side missions with a brilliant storyline made 2008 a great year for PC gaming. PC Offensive's game of the year is well deserved.
