Choose one of four characters and battle through a zombie apocalypse with your survival the main objective. A first person shooter/horror that should please your trigger happy fingers.
Taking control of one of four characters, the remaining three are controlled by the AI. The foursome venture through the maps fighting of a horde of zombies with any weapon at your disposal. The first noticeable thing is that the killing isn't the hardest thing to do. A quick whack with the rifle or pistol butt will knock out several enemies in one go, or spray a few short bursts into a crowd and watch many fall down with ease. Dozens of zombies in a stampede can quickly see you overrun, as you and your team mates battle your way through mazes with cooperation and caution an important element.
You can always find your team-mates close by, if they are on the other side of a wall you'll see a name and their outline letting you know what they are up to at all times. If one of your team mates is taken out, they are respawned at several locations on the map.
Not all zombies are simple brain dead targets. Some have pounce from the top of a building without warning, some use a frog-like tongue that chokes its target, some larger opponents can throw cars about with ease giving an unexpected horror element that is fast paced, and almost constant action.
Nicely formed graphics give an up to date environment that is comparable with today’s latest releases. It uses the 'Source' engine that provides realistic visuals and physics.
There are over a thousand unique voice soundtracks for the survivors. Yelling reloading lets you know when to provide cover fire or you can use the quick menu to communicate commands.
Zombie killing fun. There are better releases out right now, but this shouldn't be a let down if you find it in your Christmas stocking.
