When opening various things on your desktop, you might see an error: This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Please install a program or, if one is already installed, create an association in the Default Programs control panel.
Click the Windows Orb, type regedit and press enter. Navigate to the following key:
(HKCR) HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\lnkfileIn the right box right click and select New then String Value.>
Change the name of this string to IsShortcut, its value should be empty. Close Regedit and reboot if needed.
If you want a .reg file of the above fix, it would look like this:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\lnkfile] "IsShortcut"=""
