Sometimes your computer can get can get messed up and problems happen. This is likely due to Malware Infection or a piece of software caused it, or possibly a bad installation or uninstall. To fix the problem we need to make a small registry tweak. See this article about backing up the registry first: How to backup the Windows registry

Click Start, then Run. In the run box type:

regedit

Press Enter.
Navigate the Registry editor to the following key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/Explorer/Advanced/Folder/Hidden.
In the right box, select Type and right click it. In the Edit String box remove everything under Value Data and enter the following:

Click OK and close regedit. Reboot the computer and check it worked.
