How to Back Up the Windows Registry

Before editing ant keys or values in the registry, you should always make a backup in case something goes wrong.

To open the registry editor, click Start, click Run, type regedit, and then click OK. In the Registry editor, click on the File menu, then select Export. Save the backup file somewhere you will remember.

Exporting The Registry

To restore this back, just double click the icon and you will get a prompt about merging it with your registry.
