HijackThis™ is a free utility which quickly scans your Windows computer to find settings that may have been changed by spyware, malware or other unwanted programs. HijackThis creates a report, or log file, with the results of the scan.

Follow the steps below on how to download and run HiJackThis:

Download Trend Micro HiJackThis and save it on your desktop.

On the File Download window, click on Save.

The Save As window appears. Click on Desktop as the location and click on Save.

Double-click on HiJackThis.exe to run the program.

Click on I Accept to accept the License Agreement.

The Trend Micro HiJackThis window appears.

Click on Do a system scan and save a logfile.

A text file named hijackthis.log will appear and be automatically saved on the desktop.

Start a new post in the Malware, Virus and Spyware Removal forum. Copy and paste the Hijack This log into the post and give some information about your infection. A security support expert will assist you on how to remove malware on your computer.
